Touch Question

    Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation--with iPhone OS 3.1 Software Installed) [NEWEST MODEL]

    ...

    Does this mean that it can be used as a cell phone? (iphone OS)

    No iPod Touch can be used as a cell phone.

    Yeah it can if you download a program like Fring, then buy a microphone, and have a wifi connection. Just because it says "iPhone OS" doesn't it coems standard with all the call apps and sms apps. iPhone OS simply means the design of the OS and Apple just take out all of the phone bits.

    Even if you use Fring, it's still not a cell phone as it's using VoIP.

    the new ipod headphones have a mic and if you use fring you can make calls but only over wifi so its pretty useless

    With VoIP and the ability to send text messages using your iPod touch (look that up, it's very easy) it does come pretty close! But it's not a cell phone, obviously.
