I have an MC model iPod touch 2G. It has 8 gigs of storage.

Basically, I want battery percentage via the usage menu. So I jailbroke it, and SSHed over the modded plists. Then I backed it up. Since I don't like the tetheredness of the jailbreak, I want to do either of the following:

    1) Retain the usage menu % on 3.1.2
    or
    2) Get an untethered jailbreak (I heard of greenp0ison)

I downgraded it to 3.1.2 and did the following:
    used blackra1n
    installed cydia
    installed openssh
used winscp to copy modded plists
    backed up
    restored to 3.1.2 unjailbroken
    % Gone!!!

I really want that feature because I bought both BatteryMaster Pro (good 5% estimate)and myBattery which claims to have precisely to 1%(DO NOT DOWNLOAD, LIES)and they are both not what I want. SBSettings seems to drain the battery and made Springyboard crash.

    What can I do?

You have to restore to backup afterwards.

Well I did restore to my backup. When I was jailbroken, I backed up from RightClick - Back up, and I loaded that. I will try again. Right now I am using 3.1.2 unjailbroken with my music and such sync materials loaded. Should I reset this and set it up as a new iPod?

if you use SBsettings to make battery percentage show up, then uninstall SBsettings, the % should still be there.

Well, will it be there after restoring the OS and installing that backup?

I am looking for a way to retain the NATIVE method, you know, with the usage menu?
I have tried by modding with SSH, backing up, restoring 3.1.2, and loading the backup, but that doesn't fix it.

    Please help me!
How can I back up these modded settings? I have tried updating and restoring and loading the backup. At least direct me to a tutorial for my device.

I just jailbroke and used SBSettings to add the %, restored and loaded my backup. I have the SBSettings percentage. It doesn't seem to drain the battery. Also how can I toggle this without jailbroken access (like afc2add)?
