One of the points of the apple television, in my opinion, is that you will control the TV, and not a device connected to it. It is going to provide a deeper level of integration between all of the features.

I'm not blaming Microsoft at all, but the fact that everything else I own (and the situation is similar for many more,) can play Apple DRM content, makes something outside of the system even more useless for media consumption. Yes, an Xbox plays "real" games, but then if you wanted a television made by Apple, you could most likely plug a "real" game console into it, as it's also television, which everyone seems to be forgetting.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this is an absurd statement. You do know that most of what differentiates the PC from the Mac is software, right? And, it sounds like you had problems with your motherboard and are blaming them on software or the hard drive which makes no sense.

Of course they are. Did you read the article? Have you seen what the Xbox 360 offers, beyond gaming? The Xbox 360 supports all sort of streaming services, connectivity with your PC for sharing media, and the Zune Marketplace for purchasing content to watch directly on the device.

    ^This.

The next Xbox will more than likely include all of these same features as well as a Blu-Ray player (something I doubt the Apple TV will see). Kinect may not be able to interpret what you mean as well as Siri does, but it will surely be improved in the next generation.

What about the Wii? What can the Wii do vs the Apple TV and 360?

    *scenario*
You need to transport people to and from school. You need to choose a vehicle to use.
    -options-
    huge pickup truck
    powerful yet efficient sedan.
    -reasoning-
The pickup can carry tools, construction and many more useless (for the vehicle's intended purpose) things. Yet the truck costs more than the car and has worse gas mileage. YET, it does carry the passengers.
The car carries the passengers and what they need safely and efficiently. Doesn't do everything the truck can do obviously. At a decent price and better gas mileage, why wouldn't you choose this?

Back to real life. Why compare the 2 devices? They're for different purposes with some overlap. Would I buy an Apple TV? Potentially, someday. Will I expect to play Call of Duty on it? Certainly not.
-Guess I love Apple too much, just my opinions spelled out. :)
