Gizmodo is reporting this morning that the new car kit/ dock for the iphone/touch is going to cost $120. Add this to the $100 they are charging for the app, and that makes it a whopping $220 to use the touch as a GPS device. And only in the car, since it needs to be plugged in to operate.
I did a quick search on Amazon and found that most standalone GPS devices range in price from $100- $200.
So I'm curious- does anyone think that the kit + app is worth the price? What's the advantage? If you're in the market for a GPS would you get this, or a standalone unit?

$220 is absurd. I already have a Garmin GPS unit but if I didn't, there is no way I would buy TomTom's package instead of a standalone device. I doubt that it will cost that much though. TomTom has to be smarter than that.

I agree... The only way I would consider getting this is if they include a promo code so that if you buy the kit, you can DL the app for free. (or very cheap)
