what happened, I used PwnageTool for my mac and made the ipsw. Then I restored the iphone 3g with that and its successfully hacked but now it can't make a call and says at the top... "NO SERVICE"

What did I do wrong and how can I fix it???

    No.

You need to uncheck "Activate the Phone" when you go through the process, if you're a customer of AT&T or any other sanctioned carrier.

thanks germ, all i had to do was unlock it... the uncheck "activate the iphone" did nothing at all, but unlocking it with ultrasn0w worked like a charm. thanks again germ

You had a 50% chance of being right and so did I.

The OP didn't specify if he needed to unlock or not, so I chose to assume he didn't need it.

then next time, instead of telling the OP "No" and trying to make me look bad, explain yourself and why your telling him something else.
