I have a 2nd gen ipod touch running 3.1.2 jailbroken. I was wondering if the firmware apple released was the full version of iOS 4. If so then what are the downsides to upgrading? I kind of want to upgrade but not sure what will work and what won't.

Also is the jailbreak for developers only or is it user friendly?

The jailbreak is meant for developers, but it is user friendly. I plan to use it when I upgrade to 4.0

If you have an MB 8GB you can upgrade and jailbreak now. Redsn0w is user friendly and easy enough to use. You can use this thread to see what works and what doesn't so far. All of the popular applications will be upgraded pretty soon to work with 4.0 if they haven't been already.

My suggestion is DON'T, many things crash or don't work at all, like SBsettings which only the beta works and it's pretty buggy anyway, winterboard doesn't work at all, it only resprings your device.
I know I'm going to restore all over again once the official iOS 4 is out + final ver. on redsn0w.

I would wait until Monday, even though I have iOS4 it's really buggy and you should stay way if you don't want to loose your jailbreak. The release of Spirit is coming out next week so don't worry if you have a loss of jailbreak. Comex and MuscleNerd have to find another bootrom expolit for MC users. MB users are fine.
