Turn on UXA acceleration. When i dual booted 8.04 a while ago i could run games and emulators perfectly. No lag what-so-ever. I finally installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop and Intel's graphics performance was abysmal. I did some digging and found it was a problem with the graphics drivers and the easiest way to fix it was to turn on uxa acceleration. Change the xorg.confg (etc/X11/xorg.conf) to say:

    Code:
    Section "Device"
            Identifier "Configured Video Device"
            Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
    EndSection
    Restart and all is fixed.
