Snow Leopard costs $29, that much is clear. And Leopard users should have no troubles going from 10.5 to 10.6. My question is, how do you upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard? I don't want to buy the Mac box set (that comes with iLife '09, etc) but I will be getting Snow Leopard for $10 with up-to-date. I also have a Leopard install disk, which works on unlimited computers (buying a family license is the same disk, different rights). So to get from Tiger to Snow Leopard legally, does that mean I need to buy Leopard, upgrade to it, and then do another OS install for S. Leopard? Or will 10.4 to 10.6 work fine?

    So you're on Tiger.

Upgrade to Leopard, then upgrade to Snow Leopard.

the $129 is for the whole set up pack. you can get the $29 update but you wont have iLife '09.

Apparently you need the Box set. It is $169. Just buy a leopard disk off ebay.

They are saying tiger users need to buy the big pack....but in reality you can do a clean install from any and all Mac OSX discs...meaning if you have tiger you might not be able to upgrade, but you can do a wipe and install just fine. As long as you're on Intel you're good...no SL support for PPC.....thank god! Get rid of that ancient technology! I worked at a studio that had us working on 2k plates on a quad core G5 with shake! I thought i was going to kill myself!

You don't need iLife '09. I have never used those applications - never upgraded from '08. I don't see it worth the extra 120 bucks...
