I've been thinking about this for a while, it seems like a fairly decent idea. Perhaps on starting a new thread, the user could specify a "Thread type" This is to prevent confusion as to what the OP is talking about. Before doing so, they set the thread type to 'Question'. Helpful User has answered the question, so Worried User follows his instructions, and fixes his iPod. After thanking Helpful User, he goes to thread tools, and marks the thread as resolved. This will notify a moderator, such that they can then close the thread, preventing unnecessary posts. Edit To clear things up, Thread Resolution would only be available to the OP. WTF are you doing?' posts. The other types would more easily categorise threads, giving more info than an icon and a title.
