You can't jailbreak the 2nd gen iPod yet.

Please for gods sake.....The thread I got that file name from was named "Jailbreak Ipod Firmware 2.1!", so this thread asking if that is the correct file to jailbreak my new ipod does not seem out of place, considering it has that version of software on it....Geez!!

WTH are you talking about? Is the device not jailbreakable because i've just posted a file showing the firmware on the device IS.

OK..... The old ipod had a different processor than the new one....... encryption is different and harder to hack...... The firmware is not the only thing that is taken into account when jailbreaking....... While it is not possible yet........ They are working on it

OK, the OP doesn't seem to understand this, so I'm going to repost it except in bold:

You can't jailbreak the 2nd gen iPod yet.

That, sir, explains it and clears it up. My understanding was it was just the firmware that needed to be hacked, not anything with the actual device. I appreciate you clearing that up....that file I posted I can used to upgrade my other 1st gen ipod to 2.1 from 2.0.2....got it and thank you.
