When the ipod touch first came out and i wanted to jailbreak it this site was the way to go. the layout was nice, the people were smart, and there werent so many noobs. I am reall getting tired of this site because everyother post is a tech question that is either extremely dumb or already answered. We need to put some sort of locking mechanism where you cant make your own thread until you have post 10 times. this will keep spammers and stupid questions from arising so quickly. i know the xbox360forum does this. everyone is always asking senior members how to do stuff but guess what noobs, how do you think we know how to do all of this stuff. I learned everything i know from this forum without making 1 thread. it is ridiculous how many people are too stupid to look around. I get a few pms a week asking me how to install my theme. I just tell them it is all on the website already. i learned how to do it on the preexisting threads, so can u.too many noobs post and i am sick of it.

I also hate how there are requests for themes and other apps. If you want a theme make it yourself. They take a while to do( i know i have made 2), and we arent going to waste our time so just you can have a wierd ass theme. And for apps, if you want an app go make it. People arent just going to be creating apps out of thin air. they are hard to make and sometimes impossible for certain stuff. SO STOP REQUESTING STUFF. NO ONE WILL MAKE IT. And moderators, instead of locking threads, delete them. so there is less congestion.
O ya one more thing: MODS, THIS DAM LAYOUT SUCKS. GET A NEW ONE. EVERY OTHER SITE IS NICE. UGLY AS SH** IF YOU NEED A GOOD EXAPLE LOOK AT XBOX360FOURUMS.COM

Great idea. Except people are posting excessively and having 200 posts and still asking, "WTF IZ JIALBRIK?" We need a better mod system. No offense to you mods, and I know you have a life besides on here, and are probably complaining about me right now in the Moderator's lounge, but still. With the extra traffic and what not since Christmas, we need more mods!

[Let me put my name out there once I get my touch]

The layout did go down, and with the porn "sound" ads, it started to roll downhill.

I have my volume up most of the time, I haven't heard these ads. Besides, these ads help pay for the site, without most of them, there would be no way to pay for the site. I think that bgizzle tries his best to keep the ads to a minimum, but again, he needs them to keep the site up and running.

the concerns about the advertisements have already been addressed in this thread: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20569 . whenever you guys come across stuff like that, you have to report it because often-times it is not possible for me to review the ads that a network chooses to publish, so if they are sketchy (which i did not expect from AdBrite) they will post stuff like that without asking permission.

Another point to the original posters post is:

Since these forums have becme so congested with useless posts, search des not work as well anymore, which causes me to have to make a new thread. Please require that new people need 15 posts to make a thread. I agree this site has gone downhill since I joined. No offence to the new people that are a very good help to this forum, but all the people that got iPods for Christmas are coming in here and screwing it up.

I completely agree with the points mentioned in the OP's post. I was actually thinking about starting a thread about this myself not so long ago but never got round to it.

So anyway, when i first joined this site i was new to iPod Touch jailbreaking, however i like to think i'm pretty computer savvy, therefore learning/carrying out computer related tasks come quite easy. Upon reading just a few threads in this forum i had jailbroken my iPod successfully and was SSH'ing into it to add extra apps etc. (Being a Web Designer i was used to using FTP programs etc). Now when i first joined here, it was a great place to get up to date jailbreaking news, have mature discussions and talk about new apps etc.

However, now the site has just become a noobfest and all that i see now when i log on are masses and masses of 'how to' threads which have been addressed a hundred times already. This has sort of ruined what was so great about the site when it was first opened as now it's not so much a forum about discussing jailbreaking, it's one big FAQ which is really only useful for noobs.

One thing i thought which could remedy this problem, is to have a seperate forum for all help related topics where all questions/guides/tutorials etc could be contained, and then another forum for mature discussions about new jailbreak methods/apps/idea's etc. I think this way it would prevent noobs from completely ruining the site and for those of us who know what we're doing.
