say your ipod has the 1.1.2 and you downgrade it to the 1.1.1 to jailbreak it. After you do successfully hack your ipod, are you suppose to update back to the 1.1.2??

If you follow these instructions everything will work fine:

These instructions assume you have 1.1.1.

We need to have Firmware 1.1.1 on our iPods for this whole process to work.

Note: Ensure that your iPod is disconnected from your computer until asked to connect it.

Step 1) Launch the Installer app and touch "All Packages" and flick down to OktoPrep. Then install.

Step 2) Your iPod is now ready for the update. Connect it to your computer and launch iTunes. Select your iPod and click the Update button. Once the update has finished, you'll see that the Installer icon has dissapeared. Do NOT panic, everything's going okay so far.

Step 3) Disconnect your iPod from your computer, close iTunes and stop any processes to do with Apple, iTunes or iPod.

Step 4) Download this Jailbreak for 1.1.2.

Step 5) Go to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\ directory and copy the iTunesMobileDevice.dll file to the jailbreak folder you just downloaded.

You MUST have Java installed for the next step.

Step 6) Double click windows.bat if you're using a Windows system or jailbreak.jar if you're using a Macintosh system. Follow the onscreen instructions.

    You've now Jailbroken 1.1.2!

You will also now see that the Installer icon is back on your iPods 'Dashboard' screen ready to be used.
