This is a discussion thread for the "This is the Current Jailbreaking Status" story posted on the front page.
You forgot to add that 4S and iPad 2 owners can now downgrade to iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 to jailbreak as long as they have their SHSH blobs saved.
I can't remember when a hacker ever held back a jailbreak release. Did they do that with 3.1.3 and held it for 4, I honestly don't remember. People always say they should wait etc. but do they?
From what I understand, the JB for the A5 chip needs to be compiled into a stable package, and that could take some time. So in that case, they aren't holding back. Also, we have to keep in mind, these exploiters don't exploit Apple devices 24/7. They have lives and families and may only work on these things when they have free time. I am sure their personal lives are more of a priority then our convenience.
There is a tethered Jailbreak for 5.1 and 5.1.1 I had jailbroken tethered [and SOMEHOW semi tethered] on 5.1, before i rolled back to 5.O.1
He might be referring to how pod2g keeps teasing the community, but actually hasn't hinted at any sort of release soon.
