I have some questions before jailbreaking my iPod Touch 2g.

    1) When I jailbreak it, will I be able to get all my music and bought applications back on iPod?

    2) What is the difference between a tethered and untethered jailbreak?

    3) When I download Cydia, do I need to download Installer, or should I just get Icy?

    4) Will I still be able to plug my iPod into Itunes to get applications?

    5) Do I need to jailbreak it again when new iPod and jailbreak items come out?

    6) What is the best jailbreaker to use for 2.2.1?

    7) Whats the difference between hardware, software, and firmware?

    Thanks for your help!

    1. Yes, all your music stays on there

    2. Hoping someone else can answer, I'd like to know too.

    3. Icy is fairly new, I thought was supposed to replace Installer. Cydia though will never go away. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    4. Yes, apps you might buy in iTunes will still go on the ipod.. and you can still access the iTunes and Apps stores from your touch

    5. Again, not sure.. need someone to answer

    7. Software - things like apps, programs
Hardware - things like hard drives, monitors, ipods, etc.
Firmware - the system software to run a device such as Apple's 2.2.1 for iPod and iPhone.. 3.0 beta is another example.

    Hope I helped a bit

Untethered means you don't need your computer to turn on your ipod after you reboot or turn it off. You will not need to jailbreak your ipod again unless you upgrade like when 3.0 comes out.
