it has been and will be the case for all early adopters of new hardware. Thunderbolt for example is only just coming into full swing and it has been available for a while. do you think the guy with the first telephone was able to call all his mates or the first GUI had anything programs from third parties? Just wait until this gains traction then everyone will be happy :)

Thunderbolt is different, it's a Mac only thing really unlike USB 3.0.

Same experience as with non retina apps on a retina capable iPhone/iPod Touch.
I, in fact, just installed Microsoft Office on my Retina MacBook Pro today! And yes, doesn't look breathtaking but still will get the job done just fine for school/play.

I understand that not all developers are rushing to update their apps, but you'd think that Microsoft (being as huge of a company that they are) would be able to update their apps rather quickly. Time will tell.
Thunderbolt is not Mac only. Apple was just an early adopter of the new technology. Although not many PCs offer it (mainly higher end PCs), it is available on some PCs. Ex. Acer Aspire S5

That's completely wrong. It is Intel-based and Apple first began using the technology, even though others throughout it would fail. There are some PCs out there with Thunderbolt ports.

No one is doubting this technology though. Most reviews have been positive and it may take some time for this to become mainstream, it will succeed

If i recall correctly, a certain fruit company now has both these technologies with native support. A certain glass viewing object software has only included USB 3.0 natively in its latest rendition.
