Back then, you use to get a 7 gig. storage on an 8 gig iPod Touch. Now it is 6.5 gig. S*** Apple, start advertising the real space, tell us that the ipods have 7 gig. so we expect 6.5 gig of real storage.

    Anyone else agrees?

Also, it seems that 1 hour of hd takes 4.5 gb. of storage.

Apple advertises it as 8 gb because that is the size of the flash memory, they just don't tell you that the OS takes up a portion of that 8 gb, but if you're smart you will figure that out. and the reason there is less space is because they keep adding significant new features to iOS so the firmware updates become much larger.

Is that shown by "Other" on the iTunes measurer thing or is it just shown to have a lower total capacity. (ie. is it a bigger OS or a lower formatted drive capacity?)

This space is represent by the other space on iTunes, not in the dead space I see on my device.

The OS has to be stored somewhere. Where do you think it's stored? You think it just magically appears out of nowhere?

    Apple is telling the truth.
You bought 8GB worth of Flash memory, do you want them not to include an OS on it?

I know i would prefer it to come loaded with the OS.
Am I the only one who read the box before I open it? It says "formatted capacity is less" on all iDevice boxes.

I read it after I opened it, but I knew I was getting less than advertised, On my 16GB Phones I have 14... But on my 32GB Touch I have 29.

Well that is cause you have common sense like most of us, just some people seem to lack it.
