    Hi all,

I got my iPad 3G last week and today recieved my microsim from o2. When I've put the sim in the iPad and plugged it into my macbook to activate it it says the following error message:

'The SIM card inserted in this iPad does not appear to be supported.'

I've noticed this to be a common trend with iPhones but no iPad's.

Any solution to how I can activate it would be super.

    Thanks

    In the UK?

Also I'd prefer to use o2 due to me being an existing customer meaning I get a cheaper tariff.

Well what do the iPhones use in the Uk to activate? You probably have to use that then you can switch after though

A number of providers, including o2.

I think it might possibly be locked to 3.

As for the modem firmware, not sure, where do I find that out?

How would I go about unlocking it if it was locked to the 3 network?

    Quick update:

I've been to the o2 store this afternoon and they tried a sim swap, to no avail. Which leads me to believe it is locked to the 3 network.

Where did you buy it from, take it back to the store and ask them about it. If it was from Apple then it's weirder. I thought nothing was locked if you bought it from Apple now.
