I've been studying for the upcoming SAT on Oct. 9. I took it once before and got a 1920 with only an hour of studying; I've studied at LEAST five hours for this one and I'm aiming for a minimum of 2050.

To everyone: what are your views on the SAT / SAT II (this is the last year of the SAT II so you juniors and other underclassmen dont need to worry about it!)
If you've taken the SAT, what did you get, and do you have any tips for me?

You guys should get a practice book. They really do help a lot.

Im taking the Pre- SAT, but since im a softmore it wont count.
All in the name of practice. I tried some questions and for the first time in my life i felt dumb, i find they require you to think outside of the box most of the time...

Say what? 1920?? I guess you're talking about with writing, but most colleges don't look at that. Without writing I got a 1010. It's about average, nothing extraordinary, but fits the requirements to the colleges I'm applying to. I actually took the SAT thrice. The first time I got 1010, then lower scores on the other two, can't remember exactly. Took the ACT and got a 22 I think, it was super easy. As far as all these prep things, some things help, others don't. I took the pre-SAT, an SAT prep class, and bought a prep book. I think it helped a good amount, but I wasn't flying through the test (but you're not really supposed to anyway). All in all though, I applied to three different colleges this morning and I'm applying to another online tonight. Then if I'm accepted, I can just kick back and enjoy my senior year (I'm a senior this year).

Applying to colleges alone takes about half a year in my experience. From seeing the campuses to picking a major then doing all the tests, applications, personal essays, letters of recommendation, it's just one thing that haunts the back of your mind for god knows how long.
