This is what I am doing:

    1) Hold turn off button + home button till I get the cord connected to the itunes on the ipod
    2) connect ipod
    3) press shift + restore and select the firmware file from my desktop
    4) and then I get this message: The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (5).

    PLEASE anyone help!

probably using a bad firmware file. try restoring normally. if that works, it's probably the file.

keep trying and trying until it updates to 1.1.2. Also try restateing ur computer. Makes sure iPod is set to never lock. I rejailbroke mine and it took 4 tries tip it finally updates.

I had thisbproblem and more than once the firmware file was corrupt. Try redownloading the firmware from apple's official site.

If you're restoring from 1.1.3 you need to downgrade. Watch ipodtouchmaster's video on youtube

    problem:
ive jailbroken 10934871097509 times in the past with the same 1.1.1 firmware.

the things is. today, i received the 32 GB iPoT and turned in my 16 GB.
this is now happening to me using the same firmware as i used on my 16 Gb and i have tried restarting both ipod and computer, force restoring, iTunes 7.5 and 7.6 and searching.
i dont think very many people have this problem or know how to fix it because not many have the 32 GB yet.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

    ps.
    windows XP SP2
