So I've had this ipod for almost a year and it's always worked fine until yesterday. I was on the facebook app and it stalled so I turned it off and when it restarted a picture of a usb and the itunes logo came up. My ipod will not allow me to get past this screen even to enter my password. So here's my problem I tried to connect to itunes and itunes gives me an error message saying it won't even recognize my ipod until I enter my password. I can't enter my password with connecting to itunes and can't connect to itunes without entering my password. I've tried pushing every button on the ipod and I can get to the apple logo but then the same usb/itunes thing comes back up. Does have any ideas how I can fix this?

You can try leaving it plugged in for a couple days. Worked for my friend who left it in for a little over a day.

Put it into DFU mode and restore.

    DFU Mode:

    1) Start your iTunes and connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your mac/pc.

    2) Keep holding the sleep/wake and home button for about 10 seconds. Release the sleep/wake button, but keep holding the home button. you will hear some sounds.

    3) If you did it correctly iTunes will tell you that it has detected an iPhone or iPod touch in recovery mode.

You might as well try leaving it plugged into your computer.

I am leaving it plugged in. Thanks for the idea. Hopefully it works because sending it to apple for $200.00 of repairs isn't worth it. I'd rather buy a new one than spend that on repairs.

DFU is a hardware based restore mode. Use the following link to help you put it in DFU mode and it WILL NOT give you any restore errors.
