I think they should have knocked out the 8 gig, and made the 16 the 8.

However, I'm not too worried over it. As others have said, the 32 is the new 16.

Yeah exactly...thats why I for one am upset...who goes from 8 to 32? What the hell were they thinking?! I was expecting to pay the same price the 8 gb was last generation for my 16gb brand new...but now all they have is 8, 32, and 64, and like I said in another post...I'm not paying 300 for a faster processor, because seriously was the 2g THAT slow?! So I guess i'm forced to buy a 16gb refurbished for a not that bad price of $199, but its just retarded that a new 8gb is 199 and its basically the same thing as the last generation..actually not basically, IT IS THE LAST GEN! Apple needs to get their sh...crap together.

Ugh. Stop complaining about the sizes of the memory. The 2nd Generation was $230 for the 8GB. You're basically buying a 2G for $200 WITH 3.1. Stop flipping out. I for one am glad the 32GB is only $300. I can finally afford a larger iPod touch. I might even shell out an extra $100 for the 64GB now that that's finally available.
