So since i love my ipod touch sooo much i decided to buy my bro one for his birthday. So i was looking on apple.com and i saw that they have refurbished ones: 229 without the software update and 249 with. So i thought why pay $ 20 extra when i could just jailbreak it for him and he would have all the updates anyways (Google maps, Mail, etc) So today i got it and was going to open it up so i could jailbreak it for him and load so games and low and behold i see Mail Maps Notes and everything and the ipod is in new condition not a scratch on it even on the back. So I guess thanks apple.

PS: im gonna jailbreak it anyways

i bet most of the "refurbished" ones are just people that got someone else to jb and they sent it in when it froze or bricked and apple "confiscated" it

That just voids warranty, wouldn't they at least send it back? (I'm sure there's a fine though)

um, no. they don't care what you do with your touch or iphone. they just aren't going to service it under warranty if you do anything to void said warranty. It's your product, you can do with it as you wish.

And BTW, Apple isn't screwing anyone. If you don't want it to buy it, and if you do want to buy something from them, how are you getting screwed?

How? If he paid for the update, they would have sent him one with the update. He just got lucky, that they sent him one with the update, when he didn't pay for it.
