So TextFree is an immensely popular application for free texting both for the iPhone and iPod Touch. TextPlus is another option that appears to be popular despite the app costing money. Which of the two is better for the purpose of "free texting" or is there a better option?

The Obvious Choice is TextFree! I love that I have my own phone number... Even though the app it self is a little slow..
