I was just listening to music with my tethered Ipod Touch 2G, when the music started to skip. I tried to just hold the rest button to turn it off and it wouldn't work, so I help the home and rest buttons at once, which turned it off. Now it is not recognized in Windows or in Itunes, it won't enter DFU or recovery mode, and I can't reset it using the rest and home buttons. I have no idea what to do.

    Do DFU right.
    Then restore to 2.2.1
Then run redsn0w 0.3 to get untethered.

    or

    Do DFU right
    Then upgrade to 3.0
    Then run redsn0w 0.8

I dont know what youre doing on a tethered jailbreak.

Plug it into your computer, and do this.
Hold the home and power buttons for 12 seconds.
After 12 seconds, release the power button without releasing the home button.
Continue holding the home button until you hear a beep on your computer.

Do this as many times as you need before your computer recognizes it.

After that, open iTunes and press the restore button (dont shift+click restore to a downloaded firmware). It should install 3.0 firmware on your iPod touch.

Now download redsn0w 0.8 and jailbreak it.
Now you dont need any booters to turn your iPod on.
    What is this? 2007?

I never upgraded to an untethered jailbreak because I never turned it off for any reason, and always plugged it in before it ran out of batteries so it wasn't a big deal for me.

DFU doesn't work. I've entered it a bunch of times before, so I know how to do it, but it just won't work this time. It never gets recognized by Windows or Itunes, even if I do DFU. The noise never goes off, and I can't do anything with it. I am doing DFU right.

Keep trying, I know you think DFUing isnt working but it always does.

Just play around with it a little.
And instead of holding home and power for 10, hold it for 30.
Thats what did it for me.

If you get the USB Device Not Recognized, its a good thing.

I just said why a have a tethered jailbreak.

I am trying to make it untethered, but I can't because it is frozen. Also, my speakers aren't working so I don't hear any noises, and I'm not getting any USB isn't recognized bubble or anything. I've tried holding the rest and home for minutes, and it still doesn't work. Ill keep trying to DFU.
