Hi, I have had iPod touch 3G for over a month now! and no I am not a newbie i have had all generations of ipod touch.

Ok Here is what is happening :

I usually listen to my music in my bed at night and sometimes i forget to turn the music off. no big deal since night is like 7 hours! when i wakeup in the morning my ipod is always dead! reboot - 1% battery left? That like never ever happened to me in 2G?

Is the battery life that terrible on ipod touch 3G?

    notes :
    My ipod touch is jailbroken.
Original remote + mic headsets are used to listen.
a playlist of about 12 songs is played (avg 3:30 minutes each)
    brightness --- 0
    Screen Off.

    Any experiences from you guys?

I have a 2G 32GB, and after i updated to the 3.0 firmware and jailbroke I suddenly had a sh*t battery life. Dunno what to tell you, it seems to happen to some of the iPod touchs for no reason at all.

It's jailbreaking that's the problem. You have many more processes running in the background when jailbroken, and they WILL kill your battery.

This. It's one of the main reasons that I stopped jailbreaking.

As far as my 3G 32GB Touch, with music I get about 36 hours of battery life - keeping brightness at ~1/4th, and the screen off for the majority of the time.

Gaming (heavy games like Dungeon Hunter) gets me ~6-7 hours.

Well, All those saying jailbreak think before again :

    Why? Because

    i play a playlist of 12 Songs : 12 X 4 Minutes = 48 Minutes without screen at low volume like medium..

48 minutes of music will kill ipod touch battery????? Comeon be realistic~!

I know on one of the firmwares there was some sort of a battery drain problem, jailbroken or not. Might wanna look into that. It's most likely software related.

The 3G, from what I've noticed so far, is actually a little better than my old 2G. This could just be a function of it being a new battery though.
