Right when I open the terminal I am prompted straight away to input a password. Now I thought this would have been the default user name/password for ssh but it turns out not to be. So with this problem I am unable to do anything at all with the terminal. If anyone has found out the password or at least how to solve this problem please help.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ruisu

p.s I don't want pointless posts from ignorant people saying that "oh maybe you changed your password on ssh, blah blah blah" because that isn't what happened. All I wont to know is how fix it.

There is something new in the new JB installer. Have you tried ssh into your ipod and executing:

    chmod a+x /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/SpringBoard
    chmod +s /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/SpringBoard

    and

    reboot

Now when launching terminal I get a password prompt but the root password works
(the problem before doing the chmod +s is that the terminal was running as the mobile user).

Ahem... sorry. You can type them in an SSH session, or you can also set those flags in WinSCP.

After using those commands and rebooting, Summerboard beacme Inactive. I had to ssh into /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ folder and use the backup that was already there instead of going through the entire JB process...

Not sure exactly what those commands do, but they break Summerboard. I also had to uninstall and reinstall the iPhone Apps.

Was root the owner of those executables?

Have you tried simply entering your password as 'alpine' ?
