terminal codes

    as asked at the end of this thread - http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58930 - does anybody know what this terminal code thing is.

    i had an answer in that thread, but it didn't tell me anything.

    basically, what are terminal codes, in relation to do they effect me and how useful will i find them? how do i use them? and why?

    i just want to know

    They are not "Codes". They're commands. They affect different parts of your system depending on what commands you use. Heres a great resource for Terminal commands: http://cb.vu/unixtoolbox.xhtml

    thanks. still not clear (that link is in chinese to me).

    so it's a techie thing? not a run-of-the-mill thing most users do/need then? what will it do then? any examples? can i use it? and how? and do i need to?

    i ask as it's a sticky in this forums here which means it's probably important. but a brief in-plain-english explanation would be nice

    Yeah, its a Geeky/Techie thing. You can use it to copy and paste or download a file on the internet or turn off your device etc. Its like doing what you'd normally do, cept in Text format.
