I am trying to update the firmware to 4.1 because of the new 4.1 jailbreak

. But when I try to upgrade it says it has to back it up and blah blah blah. But when I do try to back it up, it says backing up DAvid's Ipod... and shows a progress bar. After 1 hour, it has ONE bar on the status bar. I have a 8gb ipod, and only 256 megabytes are open, so that might be a bit of a dilemma. Any way to speed this up, or just not back it up? The back up isn't nessecary for me, I really couldn't care less.

    THanks in advance.

Isn't there a little "X" beside the backup bar that allows you to cancel and move to the next step? You could also just restore it and set it up as a new iPod. As long as you have all your music and apps in iTunes you should be good.

If you cancel it, it stops it entirely. And I don't have the new itunes, that might be it.

Nevermind, I am restoring it and updating with out the back up, thank you.
