Ok, so I have a 2g iPod Touch. I previously had it JB with 2.2.1 but wanted to upgrade to 3.0 so I did and re-JB. Everything went fine, but now when i try and hook it up to iTunes, i get this message:

"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod 'iPod Touch.' Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."

    I have iTunes: 8.2.0.23
iPod: second gen with 3.0 firmware

Everything worked just fine when I had it JB with 2.2.1 and the first couple of syncs with the new JB 3.0. Please help me guys, I am at whit's end and am getting very frustrated.

    Thanks.

It means somewhere along the lines of restoring and jailbreaking the data on the ipod got corrupted. You probably are going to have to do a clean restore to 3.0 and re-jailbreak again. I know, frustrating, but solvable.

Are you sure that is the problem? Because I just JB my girlfriends iTouch (2g 2.2.1) that was brand new out of the box. I literally peeled the stickers off and JB it right away and I get the same message with her iTouch also... does any know about this or experienced it themselves and know of a way to fix it without a re-JB? Thanks for your reply cmjdjm1.

    Could be your computer.

Go to Add or Remove Programs.
    Uninstall the following:

    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    iTunes
    QuickTime

    Now go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Download iTunes.

Now put your iPod into DFU Mode, and clean restore to a legally purchased 3.0 firmware.
    Rejailbreak with redsn0w 0.8

If you still get an error message, its your computer.
Get to another computer or reformat/clean install your COMPUTER.

I had to clean out these 2 areas:
    o Clean out the /private/var/mobile/Media/
    o Clean out the /var/root/Media
If worked after I did that.
