plug ipod back in and open itune check manually sync, the go to pref and devies and check disable syn at start up.. this should stop it from removing your music.. i had this problem it wanted to take all my music out and sync it autmaticaly.. dunno why, but i did that lil thing now it stop doing.. it so its good for me..

Go into your iTunes folder (the one in your music folder) and make sure its not set to read only.
