Right, my Dad asked me to put some songs on his iPhone from my iMac, it then comes up with erase and sync, what exactly will be erased, as my Dad has important pictures for work that he does not want to be erased.

Back up the Photos using Windows Explorer [Windows], iPhoto [Mac], or Image Capture [Mac].

I am not 100% positive but 99%, I think you can sync just music alone without affecting the pics and apps etc on the iphone...at least that is what i remember from when I last synced mine. Just make sure you only tick the box for syncing the music and go through and make sure the other sections boxes for syncing are not ticked/checked.

Just use the Homeshare with your Library on the machine he uses to sync. You can add whatever music you want from your Library and not have to mess with any third party stuff.
