After searching this forum top to bottom I have yet to find anything to help me. I did a reset of my ipod touch first generation using the option on the ipod touch itself, so I went to connect it to my pc and sync it into itunes and start all over again. So I install everything, plug the usb in, the ipod starts to charge yet it still can't be seen in Itunes! Here is the log it gave me after my diagnostic check. I also tried 9.0.2 and a friend of mine on this forum suggested I try 8.2.

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (Build 7600)
    iTunes 8.2.0.23
    QuickTime 7.6.5
    FairPlay 1.4.10
    iPod Updater Library 8.1d19
    CD Driver 2.1.0.1
    CD Driver DLL 2.1.1.1
    Apple Mobile Device 2.6.0.32
    Apple Mobile Device Driver 1.45.0.0
    Bonjour 1.0.6.2 (118.5)

iTunes Serial Number XXXXX Edited out.

Go and RESTORE your iPod, it should work then. If it doesn't after that, go and do a DFU Restore (by doing a restore, put it into Restore Mode ON YOUR IPOD since it won't come up on your computer). After putting it into restore mode, it should come up on your computer. If it doesn't, try a few different USB ports and if that doesn't work, put it into DFU mode and see if that works.
