Is it possible for my Whistle account and Textfree account to have the same number so people can text/call me on the same number? If not, is there a free phone calling/texting number that can do that?

I have a 2nd Gen Ipod touch currently, FYI. Thanks.

    have 1 number
tell it to forward calls 2 Whistle
tell it to forward texts to your textfree number

you will not be able to use caller ID though

I ditch textfree, and use GV+
GV+ forwards calls to whistle so when i call from GV, GV calls me and it connects me.
    same for receiveing calls

you can read your texts from GV+, and have an inerface that looks (somewhat) like apples SMS app

like your small letters. And you can't have the same number in two different clients. Google Voice would probably be the best solution. In fact it is unless google slaughtered your mac and cheese out of the fridge. In which case you wouldn't want to pay them.

    OK, three more stupid questions:

    1) So, basically I only need to pay the 2.99 for GV mobile + and that's it? I don't need to sign up with a verizon/sprint/whatever account?

    2) If I upgrade to the 4th gen Ipod touch (I plan too shortly), will this mean I'll get a different number?

    3) Would it be safe to download on PC First or download on my ipod and then store it on PC?
