So i was planning on getting
a new iMac 20" for my birthday in two months

and i have been a PC user my whole life and well im juss want something different after having seeing them at stores
playing around on my ipod touch and friends macbook
    i really want one

    so my question is
what are some differences that are not stated on the apple's website or aer not obvious
or differences u may not notice until you use one for a while

and any great software and applications that are a must to have for a mac?

    any help much appreciated

I don't know if you have to do very many papers or things like that, but I can recommend that you NOT buy the Microsoft office: Mac software. The preinstalled apple software can save them as completely working documents that you can take on a windows computer and open. It's a big waste of money. Other then that, none that I can think of.

Just get OpenOffice.org. It is fully compatible with Office and has all its features and is best of all, free.

Your sign is the wrong way. It's PC<Mac.

Congrats on your switch; there's tons of new features in OSX, and iLife is probably one of the best. Try it out.

For word processing, try iWork '09. Half the price of Microsoft Office '08: Mac Edition, just as good. I've tried both of them.
