I really like the 2G after I used my buddy's. How would I switch? Should I simply sell my 1G and buy the 2G? Can Apple switch them? Like, can I send it in and get the 2G in return? How much would a lightlyish used iPod touch go for? No problems, just a few scratches.

No, Apple won't do a trade-in or anything similar to that.

Your best bet is to sell it on eBay, craigslist or Kijiji.

    Is your 1st-gen 8, 16 or 32GB?

Uhh you have a 8Gig.... then youll probably get like 180$ for it depending on condition.

Bruss metal the back if the scratches are noticable, brush metaling the back makes it look brand new and people dont know the difference really besides it looking new and clean.

So your not gonna just get a straight deal but almost enough to get a brand new 2G 8GB with some money on your part.

Sell it on eBay, i sold my 8GB for $190.15, and then get the rest to complete.
