I've noticed this on my iPhone 5 while playing games. That's really the only time i'm swiping like that.

Just tried it on mine and I didn't get the issue. I'll try again though. I don't really play games so it's not a major issue on my end but I'm sure it's a software issue. Hopefully fixed in iOS 6.1

    Edit:
Haha yeah just tried again and I got it.

Didn't the original iPhone have touch problems in general on iPhone OS 1.x.x? I remember playing with one in Circut City, when they first came out and thinking what crap the touch feedback was. It's probably just a software glitch, because the touch it better on the original.

I have tried it on my fifth generation iPod touch. And indeed, I got 'problems' with it too. But... I can't realise that people are swiping like idiots, so the problem doesn't seem to be annoying.

I doubt iOS has been calibrated correctly for the new touch size field on the iPhone 5 and ipt5 so it just can't keep up with the size calculations

I tend to use the standard method of swiping up and down, so i haven't came across this yet.

iPod touch 5 Gen has it too. And horizontal too. Just got to your home screens and swipe left and right. Same issue. Although it only happens at unreasonable and sloppy swipes.

I got going fast, but when it was sloppy it quit. Perhaps it is touch resistant technology on the edges that messes it up?

Seem like some type of memory leak or buffer issue (software), since it will free up after you stop.
