Well just having a look round the app store, found a lie detector app, with 4 stars from more than 150 reviews. Impressive I thought, until I look at the written reviews...all one star. I would think little of this, except this pattern was true of all the developers apps. Check them out, the Dev name is 'Will Stevens'.
Just wondering if there is something strange going on here?

    I just checked the reviews.
That is very strange! The Paid version doesn't have any reviews with more than 1 star! And the Free version has like 2 5 star reviews? This doesn't make sense..

also if it has hidden features that got sneaked through it could have awkward ratings and difference in written ratings.

I love those that sneak past, I still love my wifi stumbler app and the tethering app marketed as a flashlight but allows you to tether by putting in a 'secret' code

hehe those don't report keep them around as long as possible.

    Yeah those are quite awesome.
These ones are just suspicious for how they can have such a high overall raring yet every real review is 1 star

Why? Giving 5 stars to trash apps is a waste.

If it's a full version free app, and not some crap "lite" version then yes I will give 5 stars regardless if it's trash.

I like to promote full version free apps, what little we do get. And I like to try and help the small developers out some, cause even if the app is trash I know they mean well and are working to hone their skills.

So I 5 star all full version non hindered free apps for that reason

as for "lite" versions or crippled free versions yea they get rated 1's usually unless its really good
