OK, I have tried to install SummerBoard a few times and every time I do, i go into Themes and it crashes back to the Springboard, and when I reboot to activate SummerBoard, the iPod stays on the boot logo and continually makes the Connect sounds every ten seconds or so.

Any one have any clue what is going on?

Either Summerboard messed your ipod which is prob what happaned which means your going to have to restore, my advice dont install Summerboard, install Customize 2.0 which offers the same Features.

    Nanana. Me I don't like Customize 2.0.
If you still want Summerboard, make sure to reboot after installing (before changing themes). Then install Bossprefs and set the "fix directory permissions".
And if you manually ssh themes onto your iphone, make sure the theme's folder and all files inside have their file permission set to 755.
