So I tried the latest redsn0w to JB 3.0 but it gets stuck on the second "Waiting for reboot". I don't get the message about the USB-device not being recognized which is written about in the notice. I tried running in XP SP2 compability mode and with admin permissions, but no luck.

I have the same problem. I think it might be only happening to users with the iPod Touch 1G.

I've read about people successfully JBing iPT 1Gs, so there has to be some sort of workaround. Either that or they were on Macs.

People said that the first time they tried jailbreaking their 1G it froze on them too. Then they tried again and it worked. I've tried twice but both times it froze on me. I'll try again and see if it works. You should try again too.

I've tried it like a gazillion times (About 10) and still no go. Oh and BTW, it doesn't really freeze, the window still responds fine and I can abort the process with Ctrl+C. And I get a message saying "This USB-device could be working faster if connected to a different port" which is bollocks as the port is USB 2.0 and so is the iPod. Never gotten that message before either.

Right now I'm restoring to 3.0 stock (Again) to see if it works if I start the whole process over (Again

Use the first release. That works perfectly first time.

I tried both the first release and the new. Both of them froze on me.

The first release being 0.7? Because that's what I use.

I've found out what the problem was. I set my iPod to DFU mode before opening redsn0w. Just leave your iPod off and let redsn0w guide you through going to DFU mode. My iPod is jailbreaking right now!
