My ipod touch 2nd gen. is stuck at apple logo after updating an app. I am unable to put it into dfu mode because the sleep/wake button is broken. Is there anyway to put it into dfu mode through the pc? Any help is appreciated.

Additional Info: iPod Touch 2nd Gen., Windows 7 PC.

I'd say your best bet is to let the battery die out. I think there is some ways to force DFU mode through your computer, but I've never used one so I'm not sure. Letting the battery die out should fix this, though. Note: An Ipod/Iphone has 300 hours of standby time, so if your Ipod is fully charged, this might awhile.

Also Can Itunes detect your Ipod? You can restore it.

iTunes cannot detect it. It is even booting up enough to be recognized by the computer at all. I have tried letting the battery die out, but as soon as i plug it back into a power source it remains stuck on the apple logo.

Try this to see if it helps, never tried it before but it should work...
Actually first off, if the power button is broken, how did you get the Apple Logo boot screen?
Anywho, try holding the home button down for 10 seconds, releasing, then double tapping. It should turn the device off, and you can plug it in to turn it back on. If nothing happens, it sounds like your iPod is screwed. Take it into the nearest Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.

    Thanks I'll try that.

It never actually turned off, it tried to reboot after what i believe was a failed respriing.(I pressed soft restart in Rock App and then all my troubles started).

I dont know about taking it to the Apple store. First off I live a few hours away from the nearest one, two, my iPod is out of warranty and very old. If im forced to pay to have it fixed, I would rather wait until the new iPod Touch or the second Gen iPad is released and buy something new.

    What about recovery mode?
Press and hold the home button for a few seconds, then plug the iPod in and keep holding the home button until the connect to iTunes screen appears on the device. Then iTunes should detect it.
I hope this is going to help...
