    hi
i have a 8gb 1st gen itouch that i bought from a friend. It is stuck on recovery mode (picture of usb cable and itunes logo). I cant seem to get itunes or even my laptop(vista) to recognize it. My laptop says USB not recognized and itunes doesnt say anything.
my laptop recognizes it as a unknown device.
    i have tried the following....
Trying to boot it in DFU mode... <prior experience on own itouch>
Held down both power and home button to reboot.<30 sec>
it is still stuck on recovery mode screen. i have also tried it on my desktop(thanks) and the same error and message appears.
    Reinstalled itunes and all components
USED irecovery and it says got usb but no iphone/ipod found.
    any help would be appreciated.

thanks for the reply but i forgot to mention i have tried to kick it out using ziphone.
also i just found out that my friend is a total n00b. While he was jailbreaking using Blackra1n he disconnected the cable half-way through.
and itunes is not recognizing it so Ziphone is not working.

i was just wondering how you got your battery to run down cause my ipod touch is stuck on the usb cord pointing at the itunes symbol when its pluged in and when its not and when i unplug it from my computer it turns off in like two seconds so i was wondering how you got the battery to run out.
