A friend who installed OS 3.0 beta 1 in his iPod touch 2g said that the wi-fi signal in OS 3.0 is way stronger than 2.2.1.

Yeah.. I can second that, a lot of new networks that wasn't on 2.2.1 are on 3.0, the Wi-Fi improvement is very gladdening.

Well no, Apple put a limit on the connection for wi-fi networks, like the ones that have bad connection quality, as to provide a smoother wireless experience.

But in the beta that limit is removed. So getting 16 wireless networks when trying to connect to one will get annoying.

I thought about that too, but it's not true, because of in 2.2.1 with WifiTrak, I don't all of those networks, and WifiTrak doesn't have this limitation.

Well, they fixed the problem of constant WiFi drops in the newest beta. It's much cleaner and smoother transitions now from unlocking your iPod to connecting to the network.

it still takes a while for the wifi to turn on after unlocking my ipod. I have to wait about 8-10 seconds, and then the little icon shows up.
