lol, this happened to me too.. I went from the Soft-1.1.3 with MIM, to the hard-JB of 1.1.4.. and my name was up in the corner.. I think it's got something to do with the backup/restore in iTunes where it saves your settings and such...

this is how i fixed this problem, installt statustyle then if deletes the MIM text and then you uninstall statustyle and its gone, don't ask my how this works or why but it did for me try it out, if it helps rep me = ]

You could even just reinstall MIM, and instead of putting in your own text.. just click on "revert" and it'll put it back to iPod

it happens if you restore to a backup. The carrier image is stored in the same file it saves when it backs up the iPod

My FakeTime text remained as well after I restored.

this just happened to me and installer wouldn't work right at all. it listed all the apps i used to have in the uninstall section but they weren't really there. weird. i ended up restoring twice and then jailbreaking and now it works perfectly.

Yup, happened after i restored too.
If you want to go away, either re-jailbreak and change it back and then sync to create a new backup file, then restore once again with that backup file.

Or you can just restore it again as a 'new' ipod and not from your backup.
