    I know there are a few posts about this, but I feel I should make a new one, sorry.
    Alright, to get started on this, I began to make a GUI for this app. (In Jiggy)
    It looks a little something like this at the moment:

    After thinking about it for awhile... I don't have the protocol to implement the dynamic changes on the Friends app (the user name, whether they are online, away, in-game) and all that jazz.
    I read up some more on this protocol and....
    "Actually, this page seems to imply that it's MSN/Windows Live Messenger, which Pidgin already supports. If it uses the standard wire protocol and auth, all we'd need to know is the server address. --Ryanb 01:09, 16 Nov 2007 (PST)"

    I looked around some more and...
    "Steam Friends uses UDP on port 27017. Connections have been made to the following servers:
    * 68.142.64.165
    * 68.142.64.164 "

    With this in mind, I went to change the server that MobileIM uses to see if I could login.
    No good, its not a valid "passport address".
    I don't own a Mac, so I can't edit the MobileIM app.

    My 1st thought:
    Can anyone edit the MobileIM to add the steam protocol ips.
    Next:
    If so, I can make a GUI for it.
    If not, would someone with the knowledge of Jiggy be able to help me establish the protocol possibly on the app I'm working on. (Even if it was the MSN "edited" protocol to see if it would work.)

    Thanks for your time.

    Edit:
    I have not found a way to decompile the FriendsUI.dll from the steam folder and I have not found a way to gain the protocol.
    But so far I've found a way to implement a widget that tells you who's doing what on your friends list and you can click on their names and it will take you to their steam page.
    More info later.

    Edit2:
    Alpha version is out.

    That doesn't mean they're not still interested. There has been no steam app for the iPod yet so I figured I would share the app. Nothing wrong with that.

    You're not going to get a lot of purchases at 3 dollars....

    Would you be a customer if the app was a different price?

    For a dollar? Definitely. I would love to manage my friends while I'm away from my comp, but 3 dollars is a bit much for a web based app. Try 99 cents for a while and if it grows in popularity, then you should raise it to 1.99

    Well I bought it at the 3 dollar price. Wish it was lower, since I rarely use Steam as a vector for chatting. But I wanted to support the developer, hoping he'll do more stuff.

    The OP has been gone a long time and his app never worked anyway - I know as I 'beta tested' it... Please don't bump old threads.

    p.s. out of interest, do you have Steam/Valve permission for your app?
