Hey. I am trying to use SSH as a method of getting music onto my iPod. I've got the folders located that my music stays in and all, but I SSH the song into the folder so that it shows up in the actual iPod app. I can make it play through iFile though. Does anyone have any tips or a tutorial for me so that I can get it in the iPod or Music app?

I think itunes, windows media player, and other various music software is the only way to get music on an ipod touch for the default music app

You would have to find a way to write to the database on the iPod, which is impossible through SSH, I believe.

You would have to know the 3.1.2 media database signing method and a LOT of hacking skills.

Reason: The music library is encrypted using a signing method that only iTunes knows. The database tells the iPod app what files to look for, so the MP3 that you put inside those folders is just gonna be skipped when it starts looking for music. The database has been decrypted and made modifiable in the past, (the famous MewSeek Pro) but there hasn't been much effort towards modifying the media library since 3.0.

SSH only because I don't feel like taking the time to set up iTunes for Linux.
No problem, I can always just play the songs from iFile.

Sure. But iFile probably wasn't designed and optimized for longer runs. And I think the audio quality is different too.

Do as I did. Get a copy of MicroXP and install it to a 1 GB NTFS partition. The WINDOWS folder takes up around 200 MB, another 300 MB pagefile.sys and the rest is for program files. If you switched to ext4 you'll probably also need a ~5 GB ext3 "shared" partition between Linux and WinXP (Google "ext3 for windows"). Cheers.
