No jailbreak = No open SSH = no SSH

If you are worried about your warentee, you can just restore to a clean firmware and your warentee will be back

touchterm is a 3 dollar app in the app store
it claims to allow ssh but i am not sure how it works or how difficult it is
but if you don't want to jailbreak, it's an option

You really think a person who doesn't know whether or not that he can ssh into his ipod create an app for himself? :HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA:

All in all man, I think you are out of luck for now.

TouchTerm is an SSH client that lets you use SSH to connect to a computer which is running a server - it's not an SSH server, which is what is required to SSH -into- an iPod/iPhone. Even if you managed to SSH (somehow) into an iPod that was unjailbroken, you'd only have access to the Media folder... which means no putting Apps onto the iPod, no changing files, etc. You could read the folder, but I doubt you'd have the ability to write anything into it.

In other words, it's a dead end. TouchTerm won't let you SSH into an iPod - just use the iPod to connect to a server running SSH. And without jailbreaking, you don't have any filesystem access worth talking about, as you can't do anything but read what's currently in the Media folder... and you won't have root access to go to any other part of the iPod.
