ssh help. plz

    my friend doesnt want to mess with his ipod so he wants me to ssh and do some things for him, we both have wifi and i was wondering.
    can i use winscp to ssh into his ipod when hes at his house and im at mine?
    he told me what his ip address is but i cant connect to his ipod.
    help please

    i cant connect even if i know the ip address and the ipod is connected to the access point?

    I think there may be a way. Search google for "SSHing to another internet connection" That may work.

    1. Give his iPod a static IP address on his home router.
    2. Forward port 22 to this address.
    3. Connect to his external IP across the Internet.
    4. Do what you need to do.

    i dont think its possible, because the way ssh works is it finds that ip address on your wireless network. the same ip address could be any wireless network, its usually 192.168.1.10 and the last digit is 1-9. So as far as i know there is no way that your ssh browser coud distinguish his ipod from a large network.

    Uh... you can feed it a public IP address and have the router at the other end forward all packets on a specific port to an internal machine.
