Friends i dunno why but i'm not able to ssh into my ipt2g after upgrading and jb os 3
From what I can remember, the dev team had a tweet saying apple changed the way iTunes communicates with the iPod and because of this, no ssh over usb. What program are you using?
You most probably don't have OpenSSH installed. Look it up in Cydia/Icy.
Install it, then open Terminal (desktop).
SSH root@[your iPod's IP address]
It will reply:
root@[your iPod's IP address]'s password:
as the password.
If that worked, and you have a session to your iPod, you can use a browser (such as Cyberduck) or just copy files with SCP.
@mikec1985: The post about iTunes's communication with the devices is that it breaks SSH over USB. Using it over the network is fine.
I have installed open ssh..this problem is because i use usb?
Do you use your Network, or USB to remotely login?
is there a way to manually install terminal
Yes, you'll have to do it over Wifi using WinSCP. iTunes 8.2 causes usb ssh problems.
Terminal comes bundled with OS X.
Hi all. Im having SSH issues with OS 3.0 on my Windows PC as well. I have OpenSSH (which automatically installed OpenSSL as well) along with AutomaticSSH. When i try to do a wireless connection, it times out. The SSH is on according to SBSettings so im not sure what else to try. My older method of wired SSH doesnt work since, as you guys said, it has connection problems over USB. Any suggestions for a windows user using WinSCP?
Install iPhoneBrowser. Gives you a GUI interface that allows you to modify and move files to/from your device. The newer versions add support for directory creation and drag-and-drop features.
