Would anyone in the know-how be able to write a script into the ssh program (or services) to shut it off automatically after say.. 10 minutes of no use? Or is this not as simple as I am thinking it to be?

There is an app called 'Service' in installer that you can install that has a switch for SSH and Wifi, pretty useful to conserve battery life when you're in a public setting and not using either.

I realize this, but I often forget to shut it off.

Hmm... Maybe I'll look into this... I couldn't make an actual application, but maybe a Python script or something would suffice.
