I have now read some threads with the same regard, someone told another one in one of these threads that he should use Notepad++.
So, I downloaded Notepad++ and I opened up SringBoard.strings in the language "Normal text" and format "ANSI" and what i get is many letters separated from each other with the blackened out text "NUL".

I can see now I have not been so clear with what I'm trying to do. I want to chanfe the "Slide to unlock" text, how should I do?

I have already tried to change it with notepad, then I get the text *****_***_**. (Sorry, could just remember that the words were separated with underlines and that they were in caps).

I hope you can understand me since my description is very pore

    http://lesterchan.net/plutil/

use this site, it will convert it and display the converted text in a box. copy and paste that into a text file in wordpad/notepad.

I have now edited what I wanted and I saved it in a usual .txt in "All files" coding, then I changed the extention to .strings.

Now I'll import the new file, wish me luck

    In terminal on iPod:

    plutil -c xml1 /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/English.lproj/SpringBoard.strings

Then, open it from SSH in REGULAR Notepad.

    ------------------double post merged------------------
